Academic Content & Skills

Our Play Advisory Council carefully reviews every game to identify important content, including skills that can be developed when playing the game, how the game content ties to U.S. National and State Educational Standards, the games suitability for special challenges, and appropriateness for characteristics of autism. Our Play Advisory team also provides ways to modify the game rules and play to adapt to for broader use.

How to Play – A quick description of game play.

Educational Standards – Using the following National and State Standards, each game is evaluated to identify which components/actions of the game meet specific criteria by subject matter and age. The standards used are:

Skills

Our skills evaluation encompasses the 13 individual skills that make up our three key skill groups: Academic Skills, Thinking Skills, and Life Skills. The skills evaluated for each game are Explore, Determine, Compare, Remember, Predict, Plan, Experiment, Practice, Solve, Review, Demonstrate, Imagine and Create. Mastering these areas as children equips us with the tools we need to succeed in our learning and in creating healthy social relationships throughout our lives.
